My birthday’s coming up next weekend, so naturally my crew and I are throwing our next CATEGORY rave to celebrate Scorpio season. Obvi you’re all invited to my birthday party!

Next Friday, 10/23, I’m taking over a chic, secret DTLA penthouse, allegedly the oldest dancehall in the city, with some of my faves Bears In Space, Stacy Christine, and DJ Kerry spinning cosmic disco, deep house, moody techno, and nu-disco ‘til 4AM.

The theme for Vol. 003 is Sapphire 💎 so come dressed in your boldest blues, catch the light from our resident editorial photographer, and make my birthday wishes come true!!!

LATER THIS WEEK

THE 10-MINUTE RESPONSIBLE THING

Life insurance is easy to avoid, because it’s really not that fun to think about. If given the choice, we’d prefer to use our brain power imagining a horse wearing a cowboy hat… But this needs to be done.

Ethos makes the insurance of life a lot easier to deal with. You answer a few health questions online, skip the medical exam altogether, and most people get approved the same day. Every plan includes a free will, so you can knock out two of life's least fun tasks at once.

Policies start around $54 a month*, and more than 500,000 families have already gotten covered through them. If people depend on you - a spouse, kids, parents, a horse wearing a cowboy hat, anyone - it’s one of the most assuredly useful things you can take care of in about 10 minutes.

*Sample rate: 10-year term $1M life policy for 40 y/o healthy, non-smoking male.

LOCALS ONLY

• So what’s the tea? We’re teaming up with Chado Tea Room to give away a free “Witching Hour” Afternoon Tea for two, complete with soup or salad, finger sandwiches, scones, and a bewitching tea blend, of course!

• There’s a Kewpie Food Truck rolling through the OC Japan Fair this Saturday, and idk why but my boyfriend really loves this specific brand of mayonnaise, so I’m putting this one here… yay free mayo merch!
