Everyone knows LA for our sunshine and palm trees. Fewer people know it's home to one of the world's richest goth scenes. Beneath the beaches and billboards is a thriving world of darkwave dance floors, occult bookstores, cult films, and post-punk history.

Each month, we’re teaming up with KCRW to curate a 7-day guide for the subcultures that put LA on the map. Music Director Alejandro Cohen mapped out our city's darker side, from legendary clubs and record stores to cemeteries, cocktails, and the soundtrack to tie it all together.
