Daily Email - Thursday - 6/18/2026
I’m SO sorry, DoLA-ers. I know you all look forward to reading these daily emails exactly at 4:20 (we chose that time for no particular reason). And this is definitely not going out at 4:20.
But between covering the last couple of DoSD newsletters while San Diego queen Faye’s living her best life in Costa Rica (which she absolutely deserves after covering my ass so many times), training my (fabulous) summer interns, and helping my boyfriend build our closet (I do see the Pride Month irony there), the day got away from me. Oops.
Maybe you’ll forgive me with this cute lil’ giveaway? 👉 👈
Indie kids, electronic heads, and people who claim they "don't really dance" all somehow end up at Sylvan Esso shows. Funny how that works. We’re giving away a pair of tickets for their Wiltern show next February!*

THE TASTIEST ICE CREAM IN LA
LA takes its ice cream game very seriously, so when I asked you DoLA-ers where you’re getting your scoops, cones, soft serve, gelato, and frozen weirdness, y'all absolutely delivered.
We combed through your recommendations, hit the group chat, and found ourselves adding way too many spots to our own must-try list. From neighborhood institutions to cult-favorite scoop shops (like a hip-hop themed one in Leimert Park or a Japanese “soft cream” spot in Little Tokyo) here's where to “I scream, you scream” this summer.

Great Scott! Street Food Cinema is bringing Back to the Future to The Autry this Saturday, 6/20, which means one of the greatest movies ever made is getting the outdoor-screen treatment it deserves. Bring a blanket, grab some food, and spend the evening wreaking havoc on the space-time continuum with Michael J. Fox.*
