Marked myself safe from April 2026! What a whirlwind. May’s looking even crazier though, with CORE this weekend, EDC Las Vegas, Lightning in a Bottle, and a wholesome pit stop in Denver for Mother’s Day.
What are you most looking forward to this month? Any mind-blowing events my team and I should keep on our radar?
Or if you need some ideas… this newsletter’s here to tempt you with a good time 😉
If you’ve had “Miles and Miles” or “Go Down River” on repeat, you already know that The Heavy Heavy do that lush, harmony-soaked, 70s psych-rock thing ridiculously well. They’re hitting The Observatory on Sunday, 5/10. Win tickets to hear it live!*
JUST ANNOUNCED
Hip-hop drums, loungey basslines, and plenty of “Scooby Snacks” when Fun Lovin’ Criminals play The Troubadour on Thursday, 5/28, with support from Rob Eberle. Win a pair of tickets!
If you like your techno fast, dark, and a little relentless, Amelie Lens is your girl. She’s taking over Grand Park with Insomniac this September. Enter to win tickets (earplugs not included).
Melancholy, loud, and built to scream along to, Citizen at the Palladium in September is gonna feel like therapy (but louder). You probably need it. Be there.
If you’ve been looping “saudade, saudade” or anything off can you see me?, you already know that MARO’s voice is unreal. Win a pair of tickets to let her serenade you live at the El Rey this October!
Honorable mentions: Shwayze, Gary Numan, and Monophonics! Keep scrolling for more…
APRIL SAID “OH, YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE STAYING IN?”

Not to be dramatic, but last month absolutely cooked with show announcements. (Gen Z readers, did I use that right?)
If your calendar suddenly looks unhinged and your bank account hates you, don’t blame me... Here are some of the ones I’m most excited about:
CALIFORNIA RISING - Tuesday, 5/12 at El Rey Theatre
FORCE FIELD - Saturday, 5/16 at Scribble
JAY ELECTRONICA - Sunday, 6/7 at La Santa
TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL - Friday, 7/24 at Hollywood Palladium
KAROL G - Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, 8/14-16 at SoFi Stadium
LIVE NATION PRESENTS:
UNA NOCHE DE COMEDIA Y MÚSICA
Sunday, May 10. Hollywood Bowl. 7PM. This is not your typical comedy show. It’s not your typical concert either.
FEID, Marcello Hernández, and Sofía Niño de Rivera come together for a full night of music and comedy en español as part of Netflix Is A Joke Fest.
It’s the first time the Bowl has ever hosted an all-Spanish show like this, a real reflection of the city and the culture that shapes it.*

THE LOCAL’S LIST: DoMETAL WITH JEFF
We’re asking locals what they’re actually into lately. They pick the topic, we share the list. Every Friday, new person, new subject, maybe a new friend?
Meet Jeff Ewing, our go-to guy for the best metal shows to mosh in LA.
Jeff has very little by way of ‘chill’. He likes intensity: high-octane action epics, teeth-chattering horror, and metal shows that raise your adrenaline and channel your inner fire into pit glory. LA is always on, always ready, and always passionate, and so is Jeff.
Wanna know Jeff’s favorite venues to absolutely f*** s*** up and overthrow the Heavens in the City of Angels?
Know someone who should be featured? Nominate someone (or yourself) to share their favorite spots around town and be featured in a future Local’s List!
